Charnock Ridgeway show dominant display to beat MW Dons 6-2 with Marvin Gabou doing the unthinkable scoring six goals to steer the team back into the right direction.
The narrow 3-2 lost to Ecclesfield Red Rose indicated Charnock needed to get back to winning ways and it was done with total control.
“We done everything properly on Tuesday. We absolutely smashed them.” Parker full of praise on the team performance.
From minute one, Marvin was in flow state. His pace was a clear threat to MW Dons’ defence, and it shown quickly in chances he got given.
With two of his goals being like each other in taking the ball past the keeper, it was the final goal battling two defenders to then finish the attack that capped not only a great team performance but a satisfying first half hattrick for Charnock’s top goalscorer.
“He was classed today. Scored six goals.” Dom continues, “[He} ran the back line, no one could catch him and his finishing was on point.”
The second half had seen a resurgence in MW Dons, who had struck twice early to initiate a comeback, but Marvin Gabou was there again to shutdown any ideas or motivation they had scoring another 3 goals claiming the match ball if he thought he didn’t already.
Charnock’s cohesion on the day was nothing but simple and compatible, defensively and offensively. And Bladen Bamford, one of the long-lasting players knows how important it was today.
“I think the way that we knocked it about today, we were quality… we've got a good understanding of when we need to play out front, back, play through middle, or go long.”
Throughout the season, we seen many new editions of players enter the team with likes of Kevin, Max and Marvin and it’s obvious that they have become key players within their first season.
“They’ve been an asset. They’ve been quality for us…” Bladen stated, “I think they’ve been a big reason to why we’ve pushed on and done as well as we have this season.”
Bladen is yet to hit the scoresheet and there was even a chance during Marvin’s carnage where the goalscorer could’ve gotten an assist to open his account for the season.
“I did make a run, and I was screaming for it. I did want to get on that score sheet, but as I've just said, a double hat-trick.”
“I don't think anyone can take that away from him, so I'm more than happy to go all season without scoring if he continues to do that.”
The win today starts the winning run again, assisting Charnock in maintaining their second position in the league and creates distance for any chasers behind them. With an away game against FC Spartak next, the momentum today is essential to take them through the final stages.
